Places and spaces
As a young soul I saw places and spaces through
the eyes of an innocent child
places to go for holiday fun, and spaces to put
my toys in the sun.
Than I grew up some and fell into
my first love
still young and experienced-less I saw places of lights
to run into away from my pain
and spaces of smoke to put my head in and
help me explain.
Then I grew up some more and fell into
my next love
places became fortifications of steel, and spaces
sealed, locked and guarded with zeal.
Then I grew up some more and fell into
my good love
places and spaces opened to let the good in, but
fiercely protected to keep the bad out.
Then I grew up some more and fell into
my heavenly love
places became safe haven for treasures
diamonds of love and rubies of passion
and spaces were in my head
on them to shine, and shine, and shine.
Now I have a good place for each love and
a safe space to keep me unharmed
And again I feel like an innocent child
who’s only want is a good place
to party all night
and a space to feel safe as I celebrate life.

Shony,
For one without formal training in creative writing, this poem speaks of your natural expressive writing, as it speaks to me with the wisdom I see in this poem and the beautiful words you chose to convey this wisdom.
Thank you for this and keep writing,
Dana
